“For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.”
— Proverbs 3:26 (NIV)
Opening Thought
Confidence isn’t arrogance — it’s assurance rooted in identity.
It’s knowing who you are because you know Whose you are.
The world defines confidence as self-promotion, appearance, and performance. But God’s version of confidence is humble, steady, and Spirit-led.
True confidence comes not from what you can do, but from who designed you.
No one illustrates this better than Moses. When God called him to lead Israel out of slavery, Moses didn’t feel qualified — he doubted his voice, his skills, and his worth.
Yet God didn’t choose Moses because he was perfect; He chose him because He was present.
Biblical Reflection: Moses — Confidence in the Call
Insecurity at the Burning Bush (Exodus 3–4)
When God appeared to Moses and gave him his mission, Moses immediately focused on his flaws.
“Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” (Exodus 3:11)Later, he added,
“Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent... I am slow of speech and tongue.” (Exodus 4:10)But God replied:
“Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”
— Exodus 4:11–12 (NIV)👉 God made us by His perfect design. Every strength, limitation, and insecurity we have is known and loved by Him.
He does not make mistakes in His creation — your uniqueness is intentional. What you see as weakness, God sees as a place for His strength to shine.
He knows how to use you — fully and uniquely — for His good and His glory.Even when Moses continued to hesitate, God showed grace and provided help:
“Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses and He said, ‘What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well... You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do.’”
— Exodus 4:14–15 (NIV)👉 God never sends you alone. He surrounds you with people — your “Aarons” — to help carry the mission He’s called you to.
Obedience Builds Confidence
Moses didn’t wake up one day full of courage; he grew into it through obedience. Each step of faith built a deeper trust in God’s strength. Every confrontation with Pharaoh, every miracle performed, every prayer answered — all of it reinforced one truth: God was with him.Confidence Sustained by Dependence
Moses never stopped depending on God. When leadership was heavy, when people grumbled, and when fear crept back in — he always returned to God’s presence for direction and peace.
👉 True confidence grows when obedience meets dependence.
Faith & Fitness Connection
Confidence in training doesn’t come from one workout — it comes from showing up, again and again.
In the same way, confidence in faith is built by consistent trust in God’s plan, even when you don’t see results yet.
Your insecurities and limits are not setbacks; they’re opportunities for growth — for God to work through your effort.
Just as Moses was shaped through repetition and surrender, so are we.
Confidence grows every time you show up and let God lead.
